Transaction Conîž±gurability and Label Variables
Eagle has always ensured that the standard RF Express™ for QAD transaction set has
easy-to-congure options for prelling/turning on/o prompts, enabling error-proong
logic and printing labels.
The robust selection of transaction options (called rfvaluesx) can be set by site if
necessary so the same transaction can have dierent options in two dierent sites. For
example, the Transfer (TRN) transaction could have the Remarks prompt on in one site
and o in another.
The rfvaluesx control îž±le settings can even be set by user. A speciîž±c use case could
include allowing certain users to perform a negative quantity transaction such as a
production transaction reversal. The rfvaluesx settings are easy to change/toggle and
have the expected access controls. Documentation for various options is now online
and searchable. Typically, it takes just a minute to make a change and activate it so the
user community can pilot requested changes quickly.
For meeting internal and customer labeling requirements, Eagle has an ever-increasing
standard library of label formats and close to 1000 standard label variables. Label
variables for QAD database table/îž±elds as well as various transaction data are easy to
add/change on label formats. There are expanded user-deîž±ned variables and
transaction conîž±gurable prompting forlabel variables to handle those ever-changing
requirements.
Eagle’s architecture of real-time calling of Zebra, Honeywell, or other printer language
templates is second-to-none.
Transaction Spotlight: Label Inventory Print
For existing inventory, Label Inventory Print (LIP) provides a quick method to generate
warehouse/shop oor inventory labels with barcodes to facilitate scanning.
The transaction requests a range of QAD Locations and will generate one label per
inventory detail record (ld_det) found in that location range. That label can then be
quickly scanned in Label Only (LBL) if multiple box labels are needed for the same
inventory record.
This label generation process is very useful for go-live preparation or anytime existing
inventory must be labeled. In a live environment, labels should be earned through
warehouse and plant oor transactions to minimise the need for bulk re-labeling.
The sample label displayed includes the Eagle single-scan barcode which captures
item number, quantity, and lot number in one scan
Hardware Update
Please contact Tom Wayne to discuss the new oerings from Zebra Technologies
Including TC53, TC53E and TC58. These devices have form factor and ruggedness
improvements as well as enhanced scanner/imager options.
